Rate limits and the daily cap

Per key, per minute

Each key has a one-minute window with a capacity of its rate plus its burst allowance. New keys default to 60 requests a minute plus a burst of 20, so 80 in a minute. The tenant's ceiling caps the rate; Clarirad sets the ceiling, and the default is 60.

Per tenant, per day

All of a tenant's keys share one daily cap, which defaults to 10,000 requests and may be set by your plan. The count resets at midnight in your tenant's timezone.

Headers on each admitted response

X-RateLimit-Limit the key's capacity this minute
X-RateLimit-Remaining calls left this minute
X-RateLimit-Reset seconds until the minute resets
X-RateLimit-Daily-Limit the tenant's daily cap
X-RateLimit-Daily-Remaining calls left today

When you reach a limit

The API answers 429 with Rate limit exceeded or Daily request cap exceeded, and Retry-After gives the seconds to wait. Wait that long before retrying.

If the counters themselves are unavailable, the API refuses with 503 rather than serving calls uncapped. Retry with backoff.
